Welcome to my website!

Bradford D. SmithMy creativity and passion for story telling was cultivated early in life. My mother instilled in me a love for reading, and my childhood in a historic gold mining town nestled in the wilderness of Canada provided ample opportunity to develop my imagination. Without television or video games, books were both entertainment and inspiration for my friends and I.

As I grew up and began focusing on my career and family, I never forgot the value of a good story. When life settled down enough to give me some free time, I took the opportunity to turn my hand to writing. I hope you enjoy my books.

Atlin Where Everyone Knows Your Dog's NameMy first published book was Atlin: Where Everyone Knows Your Dog’s Name.

It’s the story of my childhood in the remote town of Atlin, where the wilderness was my playground, the dogs were my constant companions, and my imagination had free reign.

Murphy and the Mystery of the Black Skull cover

Next, I wrote a mystery for tweens and teens called Murphy and the Mystery of the Black Skull. It’s about a boy who wasn’t out to find a mystery, until one stormy night when a mystery found him. Full of pirates, buried treasure, and adventure… it’s just the kind of story I liked as a kid.

I am writing the second book in the series now.

The Way It Used To BeMy mother, Diane Solie Smith, was an accomplished writer and artist and a big inspiration to me.

I collected the stories she wrote for the newspaper in the 70’s about life in a Northern town and compiled them in the book The Way It Used To Be.
