The M/V Tarahne
Summer scene of the M/V Tarahne with First Island in the background.
The M/V Tarahne was built on the shore in front of town in the summer of 1917. Designed with sightseeing in mind, it sports a large viewing deck where patrons sat on large wicker chairs and were warmed by two wood stoves. On particularly chilly midnight excursions to the Llewellyn Glacier, blankets and hot cocoa were provided.
Painted by Diane Solie Smith, circa 1980s.
